Aspiring to make a difference in the lives of area children and their families, area residents John and Andrea Schoel will open the Primrose School of Kingwood on April 4, satisfying the demand for high quality educational child care in the community.

To mark Primrose Schools’ official entrance into Kingwood, franchise owners John and Andrea Schoel are inviting area families to a grand opening event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 4. Activities include moon walks and games for the children and the parents will be able to get a preview of the new school.

The new Primrose School of Kingwood, located at 2311 Green Oak Dr., will be the 25th Primrose School in the Houston market. John Schoel said the new school will provide an unmatched educational child care experience to area families, and noted that it has already positively impacted the local economy by adding 25 to 30 new jobs equal to $400 to $500K in payroll, and $2.2 to $2.5 million in construction contracts.

In 2002, the Schoels took their son to the Primrose School of First Colony in Sugar Land and say that it changed their lives. They became interested in opening a Primrose School once they realized how Primrose would benefit the community. The Schoels opened their first school in Humble in December 2005 and will be opening their second school in Kingwood on April 4.

"Given the stellar reputation of Primrose Schools around the country, we're proud to bring the Primrose name and their highly regarded accredited curriculum to the Kingwood community," said John Schoel. "Our new school will give local parents the peace of mind they need and deserve, knowing that their children are learning and being nurtured while they’re away at work.”

The 11,200 square foot Primrose School of Kingwood is the only local school that will offer the exclusive Balanced Learning® curriculum, a unique balance of academics, play and character development, for children ages six weeks to five years old. Developed by and taught exclusively at Primrose Schools, Balanced Learning blends child-initiated and teacher-directed activities to nurture children socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually. The goal of creating young people who are prepared for success in learning and in life also filters into Primrose’s after-school program for students up to 12-years-old.

“We feel so fortunate that we will be able to deliver proven curriculum in all of our classrooms as our proprietary lesson plans are developed by a team of early childhood education experts in conjunction with the Primrose National Academic Advisory Board. Instead of worrying about creating new lesson plans for each day in the classroom, our teachers can spend more time focusing on the individual needs of their students,” said Schoel.

The new Kingwood school will feature 11 private classrooms with state-of-the-art wireless technology. Outdoors, four separate and secure age-appropriate playgrounds will accommodate each stage of the children's early development with equipment specifically designed to help them develop and grow their gross motor skills. Children also develop their fine motor skills in the Primrose Patch – a garden.

As safety is a top-priority at Primrose, the new school also features the official Primrose Schools Safe School Plan, a tool designed to further elevate safety awareness among staff members, children and parents. A password protected website keeps parents informed of the emergency procedures and any critical information should there be a situation requiring immediate attention at the school.
