It sounds like the event isn't moving from the country club next year. Perhaps it is time to take this community event out of the hands of the businesses. The country club can do whatever it wants on its own for its members. We are a community, distinct from downtown Houston and the goings on there. We have a service association which handles operational management of our parks, entrance ways, etc. Why don't we just pay a very small amount more in our HOA fees to have them handle the fireworks show? I looked up the cost of an average municipal fireworks show. According to google, it averages $20,000. If only 5 of the ~20 HOAs agreed to contribute, the assessment per house for the fireworks would be between $1-4 dollars annually. Most of the people in town center, the old HEB parking lot, the high school and all of the other places around the would have paid this amount per car to see the fireworks. Some people said it isn't wasn't that important. In response, let me ask you this? Is there another event in Kingwood which brings the Kingwood community out together en masse outside of the fourth of July? I would hate too see people get fed-up with this event in our community and go to other communities to see fireworks. If you don't feel that the people would agree to pay through their HOA fees? Try crowdfunding - after last night I think that you'd get all the money you needed with a few community emails in one day on gofundme
And Yes, I would be willing to help although I have no authority so perhaps I will appeal to my HOA and others can do likewise.

Actually some pay for this event via HOA donations. We also pay for it by doing business with the merchants in town center who help to fund it. The event was advertised as a town center event which was a minor deception in and of itself. Kingwood CC advertised that non-members could attend for $29.99 plus tax and gratuity, member cost was $24.99 ++. A VIP package was also available for $75. I think the answer is pretty simple as in all things in life, just follow the money and see where it leads. Life is full of choices so we just need to make prudent decisions. Sadly as I see it, Kingwood CC got a lot of unwanted negative publicity from this event. It'll be interesting to see what apples fall off the tree as a result.Nonetheless, the true meaning of the 4th should not be diminished by this incident. We should all be thankful for our freedoms which we have come to take for granted. I bleed red, white, and blue.
It could be worse. I was at a small town 4th celebration one time. Their fireworks were a disaster. The whole trailer went off at one time. People were screaming and running for their lives. It was amazing no one was hurt. It was a incredible show for around fifteen seconds. The worst part is they lost their State permits and never were able to get them back. No more fireworks. So at least we can have some next year, somewhere.  4951
Yes, they were free so really we should all just complain to ourselves and go home. But I braved the traffic, I hauled my cookies and my 2yo grand daughter down there and sat 2 hours in the heat and the crowds so she could see fireworks and it was a bust because the ritchies at the KCC got involved and/or someone changed the location who didn't know what they were doing. You don't want to do them or you want the ritchies at the CC to be the only ones who see them, let me know and Ill go someplace else. The display has gotten shorter and shorter over the last few years anyway and I would just as soon go elsewhere anyway but this was closer. Maybe the Kingwood association could have one with all the money they take out of my pocket instead of sending out letters and siking their attorneys on people for BS. Oh and I certainly did not go to the parade to see them on a float.    4951
Its already been scaled down enough in the last few years, thanks. Don't bother and we will go somewhere else. 4951

If I read between the lines correctly, Kingwood Country Club was the key sponsor of the festival and fireworks. It sounds like a deal was arranged so that their members could see the fireworks in exchange for that sponsorship. I am not sure why a pyrotechnic engineer couldn't have figured out that no one from the High School to the Town Center would be able to see them... that seems to be the major issue to me. 4951
the pyrotechnic company had technical difficulties, at least a third of the fireworks barely cleared the trees and when exploded caused the embers to rain down on the course. after the finale there was about 5 random shells that went off. oops. 4951
What comes with the VIP package? For $75, that might not be too bad. May have to leave the kids at home, unless it's not the kind of VIP package I'm thinking of.
