The HCSO Citizen's Police Academy will be holding its next class in Kingwood. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office will offer an inside look at Texas’ largest sheriff’s department with the continuation of the Citizen’s Police Academy program. A 13-week program, the Citizen’s Police Academy is designed to give Harris County residents knowledge of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, which adds a level to the law enforcement and community relationship that is vital for the protection and safety of our communities. Patrol procedures, homeland security, gang awareness, among other topics, are discussed as residents meet every Thursday night for that 13-week span. Graduates of the academy play a vital role in their community by improving communication between residents and law enforcement and by providing local input and support throughout the county. For those interested in this program, the next academy will begin on Aug. 10 at Kingwood Second Baptist Church. They may pick up an application at any HCSO storefront, online at harriscountyso.org or by contacting the HCSO at 713-759-9454. Sign up quickly though, because enrollment is limited.
