[Lorenzo Perez]A landscaper from Tomball has been arrested for taking money from an Atascocita resident and not starting the work he promised to do. He has also done this to at least 2 Kingwood residents as well. The homeowners reported they had hired and paid Lorenzo Perez, aka L.P. Landscape & Outdoor Design, large sums of money up front, and he never returned to do the work. Perez (28, Tomball) was arrested, charged with Felony Theft and booked into the Harris County Jail. His bond was set at $35,000.00 out of the 176th District Court.Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman’s Office is handling the case for the felony charge he  received in Atascocita. “Deputies are working on identifying additional homeowners in the area who may have also hired and paid Perez for work that he never performed. Once identified, additional charges may be filed.” – Precinct 4 Constable, Mark HermanThe two cases in Kingwood are being investigated by MCSO...And they are looking for any additional victims as well. If he stole money from you, please contact the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office at 936-760-5800, option 3 for the non-emergency number. (Or contact your local law enforcement agency.) Reference cases 17A059119 and 17A085440. 4951

Can attorneys be arrested for basically the same thing?
As soon as David Daniel White in Austin received a $4,500 retainer, he did nothing.
Should I call the police? 4951

Ok, I need to weigh in on this one.First off, this lo life POS should not only go to jail, but get a serious as s whuppin. Easily arranged in jail.Secondly, I doubt he is legal....(yeah yeah, thats racist, bigoted, and all the other isms the libertards come up with)......and if he is NOT...........deport his as s ....BUT all of that not with standing. If you are STUPID enough to give someone money upfront to do work..........then its your own damn fault for getting ripped off.You pay when the job is DONE. Period. Now I have paid for materials in advance, but not until they were delivered and in my possession. So if the contractor bolts or croaks, I still have my stuff. He gets paid for his labor when the job is DONE.........or a progress payment at a pre determined percentage........even then not until that percentage is reached. Doing it this way, everyone is protected. If you contractor does not want to do this.......tell him to hit the road and find another. Trust me, there is no shortage of decent contractors. 4951

Why?
Public fourm and a good reminder of how you pay and not pay workers.
We hired someone in Arizona and he took off. Yeah I had my rock delivery and paid them. But he took off with over a grand.
Well they caught up with him 8 years later. We got a letter from the court saying they needed an address to send us a check. Yep they held him in jail until all was paid.
Consider it a public service announcement. 4951

So people tried to save money by using an unlicensed, unbonded "business" and are surprised they were ripped off?

Um what did they think the "business" would do?

Sorry no sympathy for stupidity.

@Stealth83:

Even though it may be more expensive, I always go with companies that are well established and are bonded.  It's too risky not to, especially when they are doing tree trimming, something on the roof, etc.  Also, I agree with others who have posted that you would only pay a small amount up front, if any, which should be deemed only to buy materials to get started.  4951

I've got to put my foot up my guys you know what to get it done in a timely fashion. Working 7 days a week leaves little time.
It looked great in front last weekend, but alas he pooped out of the back so me nor the dog like going back there. Well we stick to the pool side. Lol i keep my back to it. Outta sight, outta mind. Until the snakes come to play. 4951

This post wasn't to express your feelings but instead to ask those to come forward to help put this thief in jail or worse prison. I must say it's disappointing to read some of these posts. At least residents in Harris County are taking this seriously. 4951
