How did the fire start if you don't mind me asking? It's good to make people aware of things that can cause fires that most don't even think twice about.
@Champagnechola: I don't really know, my money would have been on lightning though.
My roof on that side is pretty melted, have some broken windows and other smaller repairs to make. The opposite side neighbor had a 2nd story and windows right next to the burning house, those broke open and they got some water and smoke damage.
The woman who woke us and called the police was going to work at the only place around that seemed to have anyone working. If she hadn't gone to work or even waited 20 minutes, I have no doubt ours and the other neighbors house would have gone up with it
oh no I'm sorry to hear that and isn't the neighbor's insurance supposed to cover the damage to yours? Well glad that neighbor was up for work.
@Champagnechola: I dont know, that will be worked out in due time. Im going to have contractors come out and assess damage before i call the insurance though so I'll know what needs fixing before insurance tries to short me.
Home owners are back home now. They're trying to wrap their heads around it and dont know what they'll be needing now. They have a place to stay and immediate essentials are taken care of. But again, if any would like to donate anything, you can drop it off at Sterling McCall Honda, thats the unofficial collection point at the moment.
They're good people who just had a death in the family then have to come home to this.
