Hi All, My first post here. I'm in the Elm Grove subdivision. Tonight, all of our water is coming out brown and gross all of a sudden. Pic Attached. Anyone else having the same problem?

@ranier04:

Yes, us too. I guess it's our turn... Another village was posting about it a week or so ago.

Usually happens in the winter. Sedament breakes off fron the main and runs through the house. turn on your tubs full blast for 10 minutes it should run clear.

This seems to be a routine post lately.

Are we going to have to start thinking this as the norm in our area?

What is the remedy or is there none?

Yuck! That looks really yellow. Ours was light brown over the weekend but not that bad.

I'm in Sherwood Trails and ours was this bad last week. We ran the tubs for about 5 minutes to clear it. It did give my 5 year old quite the fright when he flushed though! Haha.

Yeah my water is this horrible brown color tonight too. I'm in Elm Grove Apartments. Called leasing office but haven't heard back yet. It's disgusting!

@friday1: Good luck with that.  Had yellow water in Hunters Ridge for two weeks, called 311 to complain.  they ran hydrants 3 different times, water was clear for about 2 days...no it's back to yellow

Glad to know I am not the only one, unfortunate that a lot of us are dealing with this. My question is with the outrageous prices we pay for water out here, why cant they fix this? We called 311 and they said they would try to get someone out here to see what was going on tonight. No one has showed up. Typical City of Houston water department. Really irritated with them

Last week in Sherwood Trails mine was the same. It eventually ran it's course after a few hours of regular water usage. I.E. toilets, water hoses.

Our driveway had lots of water in it when I got home from picking up the kids, and our water was colored.

This is just disgusting.
Make sure to tell the kids not to drink water from water fountain from the school.
Brush your teeth with water bottle water.

And call 311 in the am and make a report and request a DISCOUNT for the inconvenience and for not being able to use the water.

@Safety44: Might be routine maybe? Probably because it's the water department's "downtime" per say.
Less water flowing (Due to colder weather, more chit accumulates and settles in the pipes?). You never know.

@Rosetta: Sprinkler issue maybe.
