W Lake Houston Pkwy Bridge Closures

The City of Houston will soon begin maintenance on the bridges that connect Atascocita & Kingwood on W Lake Houston Pkwy. It is scheduled to start on Monday, August 24 and run for 5-6 months. Any closures are expected to be on just one bridge at a time, which will temporarily turn the opposite side into a 2-way road. Most of the work will be done at night (between 8PM & 6AM), and officers will be posted during any closures. Well while it might be inconvenient this is the kind of infrastructure improvements that we need and pay taxes for. My wife was trying to remember when the bridge was built. Somewhere in the late 80's? I looked up the city bid sheet and it says they are replacing the "bearing pads" whatever those are.

Chrisinkingwood: It was built in the early '90s, think '92...lilmama09: Close. We moved here in 1993 and there was only one side (one lane each way). It seems like it was either 94 or 95 that the other side was built.4951
