We just went there on Saturday after a long work day. The staff was so friendly and informed!

Sorry they closed but I never went there. Not really a donut eater and adding ice cream was just over the top for sweetness.

That's when you become a smart business owner. When you sign a lease, you must assure that it includes years of renewal options at specific renewal prices. If that does not appear in the lease, keep shopping

I never went, it was too much all at one time to eat it seemed. I think over the top treat places aren't really for everyday consumption, that's more of a vacation/day trip sort of area type establishment. As someone had said earlier, that's more appropriate for a Kemah/Galveston/Port Aransas type area. Not too many people in a residential area are going to visit a place like that with the frequency needed to keep the doors open.

It was a huge gathering point for CMS students after school. Never had any problems from any of them. I suspect if they could have toughed it out for another month or two that clientele might have saved them.

FreebyrdII : Like everyone, I hate to see our small businesses struggle and at worst go under. I wish they could have held out. Although it wasn't my thing, it's sad to see them go.

Actually, as a neighboring tenant, I was shocked… the foot traffic and drive-by traffic was extremely high and they always had a line at the counter.

FreebyrdII : As a former small business owner, hearing that I'm surprised and confused as to why they couldn't make it with that going for them. Very odd, and sad nonetheless.

troubles52101 : Dirty Dough is also a franchise. True there is a local owner, but it's also money funneled out of Kingwood to some corporate headquarters somewhere else.But really, what ISN'T a franchise anymore.

FreebyrdII: They filed chapter 11 late last year after one year of operating so they have been in trouble for a while. It could just be a case of having too little operating capital to start off with. Franchise info tells me they only require $50k in liquid assets which sounds way low to me.

It seems to me, that given that the economy is hard for a lot of people, businesses with a small or narrow focus will struggle. Wider appeal and a variety of offerings would serve them much better.
