The World Cup. It's scheduled for next year in Houston. Every news cycle or so, local TV stations do a piece about the extensive preparations and most include a short interview with a business person about the economic potential of the whole festival. I just read an article about the FIFA quietly making contingency plans to change the venue because of the restrictions on travel set by Ol' Donnie. The piece said that the venue could be rearranged with a 90 day notice. I'm not a sports person, generally, and have no opinion on where the events will be scheduled, but it does seem to me that the restrictive travel policies could have a dramatic impact on Houston's economy next year. What do you think?

Butterbean : I have read a couple of different articles regarding the restrictions. Will be interesting how is handled.
petronoluem: What are the contingency plans? Move to cities outside the US? That seems unlikely.
petronoluem: Not necessarily. Next year's World Cup is in the US, Mexico and Canada so they could switch some US venues to to one of the other 2 host countries. Doubt they will though.

Capybara : I doubt it too, but the political winds can shift. There have already been visa issuance issues.

Butterbean : It affected a Little League World Series team. I don't see why Men's Soccer would be any different.

Butterbean : not really worried about soccer fans, more worried about the massive influx of FIFA poobahs. One of the most corrupt organized crime syndicates in the history of sports. They make Roger Goodell and his cronies look like dimebag dealers.
