My wife and I voted today (early voting is underway). We voted NO on all seventeen propositions - they are all really dumb amendments to the Texas state constitution. Most of them are meaningless (prohibit things that are already illegal, etc.), but a few are really sinister, like Proposition 12 and 15. And several of them are just designed to shift power away from local self-governance toward the entrenched cabal of powerbrokers in Austin, or to hand out tax breaks to certain special interest groups. I'm sick of this type of thing.

The Kingwood ballot has only one elected official spot - a City Council seat. Long list of candidates. I picked Alejandra Salinas because of her impressive qualifications. I expect there will be a runoff election because there were so many candidates.

Yes. It gives judges the option to detain people charged with murder and other violent offenses without bail (but with due process). This seems similar to federal bail laws.

If you're a property owner, I'm surprised you didn't vote yes on proposition 13 to increase your homeowners exemption amount. Additionally, proposition 11 additionally increases the homeowners exemption for seniors. As an older homeowner, I will certainly vote yes on both of these propositions. If I can reduce my property taxes, I certainly will

There are several regarding increasing homestead exemptions. There were two regarding doing away with capital gains taxes. This would help whomever inherits your properties or if you sell any properties. That's the way I read them. Surprised these aren't being discussed on news. I've called everyone I know to tell them they need to go vote and read all of the proposals.

I'm heading over to the polls in the morning. The amendments I'm thinking I am in favor of right now are 2, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 13. However, I am still doing research.

No objection to #3 right now... I just haven't researched it enough... I kind of enjoy digging into all the background details.. It's called retired and bored... LOL
