Whoever it was that recommended Spartan Roof......THANK YOU! We had been planning a new roof next year because ours was replaced with hurricane Ike.....well our lovely insurance SF sent a letter telling us they would drop us if we didn't get a new roof by the end of the year.

We contacted 4 roofers. Spartan replied before the weekend was out and bid the roof on a Monday morning. Another finally replied Tuesday, another 2 Wednesday. Two that begin with M (one sponsor here) never bothered to bid!

Spartan is here today putting on the roof. Throughout the whole process, they have been communicating important information quickly. They sent letters to our neighbors alerting them to the noise disruption and their price was really good for a class 3 160 mph roof (only about 1000 more than our roof was 18 years ago!).

Next for me is dumping SF at renewal.....any recommendations for good home/auto insurance that is responsive if needed?

I recall that I said something nice about Spartan but it has been a while and I don't recall to whom it was directed. the owner impressed me.

I wish we could get a metal roof. They have them that look like regular shingles.

@djcodyblue : We had insurance through Progressive and they wouldn't renew our homeowners because our roof wasn't updated. It was 10 years old! We changed to USAA for everything. When I called Progressive and didn't renew our flood insurance through them they asked if it was because they didn't renew our homeowners. Of course that's why, what a silly question.
I had a real estate agent in East Texas tell me that a lot of the insurance companies are now doing that so you're not by yourself. Good luck insurance shopping.
