Costco. And yes, 18ft is softer than 14kt and will likely scratch easier. I would search the internet for options other than buying locally. I know that sounds ugly, but you will pay a higher price locally for sure.

I get my necklaces from Thomas Markle in the woodlands. Think hard about a thin 18 gold though. It is a very soft metal and would break easily. I buy 14 kt because it is so much stronger. But if she is set on 18 kt then you better stick to that.

GoldenGirl : Thats good advice. Pawn shops are usually ready to wheel and deal a little too, so you can almost always get it cheaper than what they are asking.
True. However, those other jewelry shops are going to wrap it and soooooo when she opens it.. bada boom! The presentation is the icing on the cake.
