Sophos2 : Possum farms? That's a new one for me. Alligator farms, yes. But probably not possum farms. We do have possums and raccoons here and of course squirrels. I read that possums are great scavengers. While a possum is not a delightful friendly and cuddly creature, it does keep the area mostly clean of things like snakes and spiders and bugs.

Oh, possums are interesting. They eat everything, are virtually immune to rabies and other ailments due to their naturally low body temperature, they make no audible noises or calls, and have very smooth brains like most marsupials.

JamminTX : It did taste like pork. I've only eaten it once. My Dad would tell us all the makeshift meals he ate during Vietnam. Snake on a stick sounded unpleasant.

Sophos2 : Dh said he quickly learned to not ask what something was when lunch was served in the company cafeteria during the year he was working in Sweden, to just eat it like the Swedes did. Fermented fish, blood pudding . . . after learning he was eating those, he stopped asking.

Gotcha. Yeah lutefisk is dried fish is soaked in a lye solution (made from wood ash and water) for several days, which causes it to swell and become gelatinous. Similar but different.
