Wednesday's stormy forecast

So ... how soon will the power go out today and for how long?

cbear : Aww I'm sorry. I know this gets brought up a lot here but have you thought about getting a generator? You don't even need a whole home one since you live alone. I know ZMAN just did a set up that's not a $12,000 Generac like most. Actually a few people here have gone that route. Maybe Buffaloglenn too? 🤔 Its definitely something to look in to. After 12 days in the dark after Beryl, cooped up with my husband, a grumpy teenager 🙄 and my almost 90 year old mother in law, I about lost my damn sanity! 😬 I'm sure you've probably looked into it but its soooo with it.

StormChaser : I had a generator and gave it away because...my late had somehow changed the electrical panel and I was warned to be careful and let him do it. Sadly, he passed before writing down exactly what to do. I didn't want to blow up the house so I gave it away. I looked into a whole house generator a few years back and had someone come to the house, discuss, left paperwork and a quote. 11K back then. Of course...wonder what it would be now. I thought to myself "11k would buy alot of hotel rooms". Wishing I had pulled that trigger as of course it adds value to the home. Just hard to let go of that much cash at one time. Things should stay below severe limits but gusty winds & some isolated street flooding could be an issue during the heavier cells. ********************** From Space City Weather: Storms return to the Houston area today, as May continues to close on a noisy note. Matt Lanza · Wednesday, May 28, 2025 6:53 AM In brief: *Scattered to numerous storms will impact the Houston area once more today. *Severe risks, while low, are not zero. *We'll remain unsettled heading into the late week and weekend but hopefully at a less intense pace than we've started the week with. *Hotter weather lurks on the horizon. TODAY (WEDNESDAY) *After things calmed down yesterday, they stayed calm, thankfully, but we will not have that luxury today. *Storms (non-severe) are already moving across Matagorda County and Wharton County this morning. *There are also a couple isolated storms just west of Downtown. *Over the next few hours, the activity near Matagorda Bay will slide across Brazoria and Galveston Counties. *Some of those storms could be strong to severe with gusty winds. *Lightning and heavy rain are a given with these storms as well. *Elsewhere, scattered storms will pop across the rest of the area today. *While we don't expect significant severe weather, we cannot rule out isolated severe storms. *A severe thunderstorm watch or flood watch could be issued for our area. **Gusty winds are the main concern today. cbear : I understand. And I haven't been shy about the fact that my dad bought this for us. He has the money & we don't. Hell, $15,000 is a lot of damn money - but it was absolutely needed -- especially with my mother in law situation. And I'm not afraid of weather (obviously) but I don't do well without electricity lol. Now that we have that issue solved, it makes hurricane season a little less daunting.
