TEXASGIRLMAMMA : USA has a drug problem and everyone just turns a blind eye.

Reverb2000 : Yea. And sadly, a lot of the people who simply don't care about the drug problem also don't care that harsher sentencing and things like that aren't helping or going to start helping any time soon. I'll always stand on the side of ending the war on drugs and figuring out a stable and safe way to decrease the widespread use while making said use much safer in the meantime. If people can stop buying off the streets and instead buy from Walgreens in a special line, then dealers would dry up and the cartels would be sitting around wondering who tf they have to peddle to now. The way we've handled the drug virus thus far has been atrocious

ArcherMan : Then go to Porter on any night and you will laugh the entire night

Reverb2000 : We seldom go to Porter in the daytime. I can't imagine anything that would require us to go there at night.

Reverb2000 : I'm not sure that a blind eye is turned. The US has spent an estimated trillion dollars on the war on drugs, since implemented by tricky Dick in '71. Quite the expensive, losing battle.

CarGuy717 : If only it was that simple. Who pays for the drugs? What limits do you put on it? A crack or meth head will take all they can get. What happens to their health? Do we as a society tolerate essentially killing people as they slowly and surely poison themselves? Who's responsible for the inevitable overdoses, from both a moral and legal perspective? The questions go on and on and on. Even something as supposedly "harmless" as legalized weed causes vast unintended consequences.
My job took me constantly to Denver. They have an area downtown called the 16th Street mall. It's a street closed to traffic, paved with cobblestones and turned into a vast outdoor entertainment area surrounded by cafe's, bars, stores, etc. t used to be beautiful. Once weed was legalized in Colorado, within just a couple of months it became an open air cesspool. You can't even walk out there anymore. It's paved now with panhandling vagrants, insane homeless lunatics, violence, etc. It's just horrible. Regardless of if the drugs are acquired legally or illegally, chaos and bad crap follows drugs wherever they go. It's just not a simple issue to solve. If it was, it would be solved already.
