I've heard, but haven't been able to confirm, that service to some cell towers was cut. The cables are still important to business customers. I've also heard from some customers who say that telecommunications in their entire office buildings were knocked out. That could put a serious dent in productivity, deadlines, etc. And then there are people who have emergencies. Imagine having a heart attack and not being able to call 911.
Not sure. Comcast has not been specific. All I know for certain is that the outages stretch from Humble and Atascocita up to Porter. I do know this. Crenshaw's office building in KW is wired to Comcast and they were without communications most of the day. Just got off the phone with them. It's back on now. They put up a notice on their website at 2:25pm saying that power had been restored to SOME business customers. Will let you know when I know more for certain.
It affected Academy. I went to do a return and pickup but they couldn't do either.
I live in Huffman and they just installed fiber. We have a neighbor who has been the guinea pig and got it first. It's constantly being cut and goes out at least once a week for the whole day.

I've heard rumors about how they did it but nothing confirmed yet and I don't want to spread rumors. More news when I can confirm.
Close to 1:00, my docs office sent an email letting everyone know that their Comcast Internet was out.
There was a gas leak from the company installing for Comcast. I saw the machines digging mid morning. Took an hour getting home from work because of having road blocked. Normally 15 to 20 minutes. Cell phones were not working well today, so I think two separate issues
