mutton : You are so right. Ramps from the back of the vehicle require less side space than side ramps which require ramp space plus space for maneuvering a wheelchair. It's complicated either way.
villalady : Kingwood does not have a municipal court. You will have to go downtown to City of Houston.
GiggleMugs : yes they do, it's next to police station. The judge is only there 1 day a week. I don't think it's every week.
villalady : I never see anyone parked in handicap space without tag. Well, after reading this I was at UPS and a man was parked in the stripes of handicap spot.
villalady : these sound like 'extenuating circumstances',and the judge will hear them. did you take a photo of how far over those lines he was? it may be dismissed, since he does have the proper plate. Does he have other (albeit small?) issues, when driving at 90 years old? Those places are created wider, so the judge may feel he did Have ample space. He may get a reduced fine, or the case may be dismissed, if he has a good driving record, otherwise.

Smoothwaters : Me ex did it one day; he'd had knee surgery 2 months before, played Golf that Day, did not want to park further out at HEB, and he parked and 'kinda limped' into the store. I had Told him it was a bad idea, but he ignored me. SO glad to see an officer waiting to Hand him the ticket. Karmaaaaaaaa! :D Some also think it is ok to Use the Handicapped tag to park in designated spots, when the person the tag was Issued To, is NOT with them. That is against Texas law, but I have seen it.
LittleTexas : I was once asked to do it. I parked at very end of mall lot and made them all walk.
MARYBEES : If you could see the laptop duty screen on a law enforcement's in unit computer, you would know that this would triage to the Very bottom of that screen, above calls involving So many other crimes in progress, family violence, etc, etc, etc, etc. So, in this case, on a simple infringement like this, the process makes sense so that the places Are kept open for those who Really need them. Once the incident is recorded, Then the law can take over the process, and complete the process, so that people hopefully do Not repeat the behavior.
