Trump Posts Bizarre Meme Suggesting He Was Sent By Jesus-As His Support Among Christians Is Down 20 Points
Sara Dorn, Forbes Staff
Updated Fri, October 30, 2026 at 9:26 AM CDT President Donald Trump posted a meme Friday suggesting Jesus sent him to correct former President Barack Obama's policies-after previous Jesus-themed social media posts from Trump have prompted backlash among his base and as he's lost support among Christians. Key Facts
The meme depicts Obama chatting with a robed man, surrounded by clouds and gold-adorned columns-in it, Obama complains that Trump is "reversing all of my policies!" to which the Jesus-like figure replies, "you reversed all of mine, which is why I sent Trump." Trump has previously generated backlash for his social media posts featuring Jesus imagery, particularly one in April featuring an AI-generated Trump wearing biblical-style robes as he appeared to heal a sick man with the touch of his hand. Trump deleted the post after less than a day amid criticism from some in his Christian base, claiming it was intended to depict him as a Red Cross worker. Shortly after deleting the post, Trump reposted another image illustrating Jesus embracing him and captioned, "The Radical Left Lunatics might not like this, but I think it is quite nice!" He's also posted Christian-themed memes in the past featuring Obama, including one in 2019 portraying Jesus with suitcases that said, "Obama kicked me out; Trump invited me back." Trump's approval rating among white evangelical Protestants has declined 20 points, from 78% to 58%, since the start of his second term, according to a Pew Research Center poll released earlier this month, and from 58% to 39% among all Protestants. His support among white Catholics is down from 59% to 39% and his support among all Catholics has declined from 47% to 30%. Tangent
Trump has repeatedly clashed with Pope Leo XIV, who has criticized Trump's anti-immigration policies and the Iran war. Trump has personally attacked Leo, writing on Truth Social in April that he "should get his act together" and "stop catering to the Radical Left." He also said, "if I wasn't in the White House, Leo wouldn't be in the Vatican." Key Background
Trump posted the meme as he makes a final push for Republicans before Tuesday's election, when the party is widely expected to lose seats, and possibly majority control, in both the House and Senate. Trump's 37% average approval rating-below where it was at this point in his first term and former President Joe Biden's-is widely considered to be a drag on GOP candidates. Polls consistently show voters in both parties have become increasingly pessimistic about the economy during Trump's second term, sentiment that has been exacerbated by rising gas prices due to the Iran war.

Catholic Bishops Who Met With Trump Say He Used Them Like a Prop
The religious leaders regret meeting with Trump after what they said was blatant manipulation.
Catholic bishops and archbishops pray over Trump as he is seated behind his desk in the Oval Office of the White House. Two Catholic bishops have expressed intense regret at their recent photo op with President Trump, calling the widely circulated images of their White House meeting an exploitative act that was "publicized by the administration without the consent of the participants." "The meeting was in no way an endorsement of the president, his policies, or his party.… We were told the meeting was to be a private discussion, that several Catholic members of the Cabinet might make an appearance, and that there could be an opportunity to pray privately with the president," Milwaukee Archbishop Jeffrey Grob wrote Sunday in a statement titled "A Public Apology." "We were then directed to stand behind him and pray. After which several photos were taken and we were ushered out. Unbeknownst to the group of bishops a video was also taken. But permission for the public distribution or posting of either the video or photos was not given by the bishops," Grob continued. "It did not take long thereafter for the White House to post a video and photos of the prayer. I soon began receiving messages of serious concern over the possibility that I had inadvertently participated in a political event less than two weeks before a national election. I also heard from some who felt wounded because of the ways they or their family had been harmed by the president's policies." Iowa Bishop William Joensen expressed similar sentiments. "I wish I had been more shrewd and less simple, like those who exploited our meeting for partisan political purpose," he wrote. "I pray I am more prudent and wise going forward, even as I remain resolute in my openness to engaging and praying for political leaders at all levels."
The White House meeting was organized by the ultraconservative Heritage Foundation. And Trump is about as pious as his policies (not very). This made the images from the meeting and the shady nature in which it unfolded all the more questionable-and regrettable-for some of the clergymen involved. "I feel a heavy sadness, not only over the pain I caused, but also for the fact that something so sacred to a group of religious leaders, prayer to our Heavenly Father, would be manipulated in that way," Grob continued. "We came in good faith to try to work for the betterment of our fellow human beings, to ease their suffering, to build up the common good, and to pray with a president, not to pose for a political photo opportunity to benefit the few. We should never have been put in that position by the White House."

#msg6042942ProblemAgain : Is tRUMP sleeping in that picture yet again?
Possibly. That might be why they were praying. Maybe they thought they were doing last rites. ðŸ¤
As well-meaning as they may be, most of those violate the 3rd commandment. Which confuses me, do sincere God-fearing people not understand the "not taking the Lord's name in vain" or are these cartoons made by satanists or pagans?
Old Testament God would smite someone presuming to understand his feelings.
I miss Old Testament God. Note: I'm not a religious freak by any stretch. And I'm not judging any of you nice people. I just laugh at the notion of some pretentious hardcore God-fearing individual making cartoons as blasphemous as these under the assumption that he/she is serving God.
