Also the NOAA radio tower in Galveston is out of service due to a fire that occurred.

ForestFinds : Yes, over 90 days now.

It's now TS Berry, I knew they would change it. I could see it trying so hard.

Since March 25. I wonder how long before the tower is repaired?

ForestFinds : They want to move the site. I don't think repairs are planned yet.

Thanks for the tower information. I won't plan on using my weather radio.

ForestFinds : You still have Tomball station, you will lose coastal updates, which is really why I have a radio.

Was a reason given why 3 weather satellites will be offline. Do the satellites work together?

ForestFinds : I don't want to get political, but they feel our 91 GHz Microwave array might be a security risk with the rising issues right now.

Slow4x4 :
Hopefully the situation can be resolved before the hurricanes really ramp up and we need those satellites. I guess they could deploy the hurricane hunter plane.

ForestFinds : I think it could also be the gov wanting it for our AI model training and keeping it private. The hurricane hunter plane can't fly 24/7 it's there now because it's getting stronger, but the biggest concern is "Sunrise Surprises" in the middle of the night.
