buffaloglenn : I have 5 mature pine trees in my backyard and not a one fell over. Just a couple broken branches from one. In fact, a whole canopy oak toppled over onto my neighbor's roof - the roots were shallow. Still trimming would at least help some. Less wind resistance?

nouser : Nope - I had an 80 footer snap partway up the trunk, and luckily fell toward the street instead of my house. It was trimmed. See pic.

JFC, why is city services not keeping trees trimmed near power lines?? I thought that's what our expensive AF property taxes went towards 😱😭

nouser : That is a good question. When we moved here I think it was KSA or the trails association who took care of that. 25ish years later and we get this. It now falls under the COH and they don't do anything here.

nouser : Trimmed trees would not have helped - whole 80-90 foot pine trees fell on the lines and smashed them down like a hot knife through butter.

This storm damage is not because of a lack of maintenance; it's because of the design of hiding power transmission lines in the greenbelts for aesthetics.

Toohot : Even after COH annexed Kingwood it took FOREVER for the city to transfer water, power, and trash services. On top of that Turner ran all the city's funds in the wrong directions, took out way too many bonds on our dime, and completely screwed up all the infrastructure initiatives Parker started in her tenure.

I hate to get political, but hindsight is a total ***** 🤷🏻

@RedROW : *puts on glasses* Oh, well... the trees still need to be trimmed!

And that wooden pole looks ancient. Aren't they supposed to be replaced every 30 years or so?

Technically they are trees and yes - COH/CP should have had them taken down years ago….

buffaloglenn : Thank God I had the three pines in my front yard taken down in '18. Those tough SOBs survived Harvey with minimal mess, but they dropped sap on everything.

StormChaser : "Trailwood Village Community Association (TVCA), a non-profit Texas corporation. Trailwood Village was founded in 1971 and was the 1st village in Kingwood. The TVCA provides services to residents of the Trailwood subdivision in Kingwood, Texas that are not otherwise provided by any Federal, State, County, or City governmental organizations." I think I just answered my own question. Trailwood thinks it's too good for outside services 🤣

nouser : Read it again. That's not at all what it says.

buffaloglenn : The bark under the snap looks... off. Is that tree sick? Peculiar that one broke and other ones around didn't 🤔
