Sophos2 Though your posted response is from the character of a hypothetical prosecutor, I'm going to continue responding as if this is a conversation with you. You are reinforcing points that I have made that you previously dismissed. It is interesting how your prosecution character is now acknowledging them and validating them. I won't take the time to quote all those examples, but I will include some. When you say, "However, the same policies are equally clear that officers are not trained to shoot vehicles, are not trained to disable vehicles with firearms, and are instructed that bullets are unlikely to stop a moving car", you are totally ignoring that I previously addressed this. Again, the officer appears to be targeting the driver of the vehicle, not the vehicle. This has been the focus of my sustained commentary since the day of the shooting, while you and others have focused on Noem's quick public statements (which now appear extremely on point), "but she was just dropping off her child at daycare", and comments such as "but she was scared because officers were unidentified and rushing the car" (the officer's POV video demonstrates without a doubt that the 2 ladies knew very well that they were ICE agents) Exactly. I have described the driver's actions, while you speculated about the driver's intent. Nowhere in the (probably AI's) prosecutor response does he address intent of the driver as having any role in diminishing the officer's response. If that's the argument, the entire quote comes down to the following response. How much time would you say passed between the 1st and 2nd shots as well as the 2nd and 3rd shots? Is that sufficient time to accurately assess all relevant information and intercept the brain to body response? Would the average officer be capable under those circumstances? Who would you put on the stand to attempt making the case that the answer is yes? I'm asking that because when deadly force is used in a compressed time frame measured in fractions of a second, courts ROUTINELY analyze the volley as part of one continuous use of force event, unless there is a clear and significant break in time, one that represents an opportunity for conscious reassessment. Your prosecutor also added a misleading statement about "until a magazine is empty". If he does that in court (insinuating that is what happened) the dishonest prosecutor gets admonished and just lost credibility in front of a jury. Based on the flaws in the AI prosecutor's reasoning and that your query does not appear to identify the history of this exchange, I'm not sure it's worth my time to keep repeating the same information. I'll probably still read your next post from the AI prosecution character, but my enthusiasm for responding has waned.

What you posted is an immature justification to engage in and promote additional criminal conduct - one that influences fellow humans with promising futures as pawns to influence them to ruin their own lives to achieve social media goals.

Spork : There's a long history of peaceful civil disobedience in the US. Anyone who does it has to be prepared to bear the consequences. In some cases, where the government is behaving immorally, I think it's admirable, for example, in many instances during the Civil Rights movement. "Civil Disobedience" by Thoreau is a good read. I actually used to live not far from Walden Pond.

acteon : No, I am not defensive in the least. My opinion of ICE has no bearing on my community and patriotic pride in dissenters making their opinions heard in an orderly and peaceful manner. Knowing that they are facing backlash and ridicule when doing this in a community where the majority of your neighbors and co-workers more than likely disapprove makes it even more so in my eyes. Your comment was presented in such a passive aggressive tone that deciphering whether or not there was a sincere question embedded in there somewhere was impossible.

teatime : I think you're jumping to conclusion at least twice;
- Majority of my neighbors...you don't know who majority of my neighbors are nor what they stand for, so speaking for them it is speculation..
- Majority of neighbors and co-workers again ,you speculate as you don't know the majority of co-workers either...
And yes , regardless how you would rate my tone, the question was sincere.

Spork : There's a long history of peaceful civil disobedience in the US.

Joe :
This is irrelevant.

Anyone who does it has to be prepared to bear the consequences.

We should all be able to agree with this.

But I doubt there's anyone on this forum who isn't aware of our history of peaceful civil disobedience. That's not why we're having this conversation.

We're having this conversation because of the escalation of tactics. They are not just waving signs, shouting the usual "hey, hey, ho, [fill in the blank] has got to go" mantras, enjoying a riveting drum circle, while braless women dance around poorly (more of this please). Agitators are assaulting ICE agents who are enforcing legitimate laws passed by Congress. They are attempting to identify ICE agents so they can post their identities and addresses online (so that others can do what with that information?)

One poster that attempted to explain the reasoning (for the escalated criminal behavior) to me said it was because ICE agents wear face masks (to protect their identity). I responded that ICE agents masks do not protect them from being held legally accountable by lawful means. It protects them from being held accountable by unlawful means (again, the reason we are having this conversation).

Why are agitators using other people as pawns to put their lives, safety, freedom, and employment at risk while simultaneously dehumanizing ICE agents? I'm sure it's happened before, but that behavior and those strategies should have no place in pursuing the risky goal of civil disobedience. Interfering with ICE operations and alerting targeted arrestees to a potential lawful arrest puts lives at risk. Seems like a predictable recipe for the incident that led to Renee Good's death.

Sophos2 :
I can relate. I love experimenting too. There's no shortage of interesting human variation.

I sincerely respect the heck out of you and enjoy conversing with you because I think you are one of the more intelligent people available to converse with (there are many more). I try to take issue with tools used and strategies without risking belittling the other person (unless the other person usually leads with that). So if I ever use words in a response to you that sounds like a personal attack, please let me know.
