Smoothwaters : Last week near Creekwood there were two electric scooters one on the creekwood side of the road and the other on the other side... They were looking at each other and racing... Did not even look when crossing the side roads!! My co worker almost hit one of them.. She was so shaken up when she got back to the office... She said she missed her by inches and the girl never even looked...

Hubby went to go out to Kroger last night in the dark and almost hit a kid at the end of the street! No lights or reflective tape and wearing black! He was so shaken he turned around and came home.

I've seen them moving around the HEB parking lot that's always busy. Some of them look so young and paying no attention to traffic.
Be careful!

Most don't wear helmets. I hope none of them gets hurt.

Parents should carefully monitor their children They are kids with immature brains seeing no danger. Please protect them from themselves.

They are a danger to themselves. We dodged a few in the HEB parking lot today!

I've seen an increased number of teens on electric bikes/scooters. They sure look fun but I think it's dangerous if they are going to mix with cars on the street. Young drivers don't have the experience or situational awareness for that environment.

I never wore a helmet while riding my bike when growing up.

These aren't bikes. I also never wore a helmet riding a bike. No one did in the 60's.

golfshot: Getting hurt ( or worse) Is going to happen when they ride them in congested parking lots and on public streets

TXSunDvl: I didn't either, but I also didn't ride my bike in a busy street. And btw, it's not all just young people doing it either, I see many older people riding them just as well.

golfshot : Yep, these aren't bikes and I hardly see any of the kids riding them wearing helmets and they enter a crosswalk without an ounce of caution. I almost clipped 2 girls on scooters on Kingwood Drive turning into KCC because they entered the crosswalk right when I got the green left turn signal. If you aren't driving super defensive in Kingwood and paying attention completely you are asking for a situation like this to happen because they don't pay attention at all.

Seems many of us have a scooter story - parents wakeup!
I pulled out of my driveway and barely got past my own home when a young boy
on a scooter appeared out of nowhere! He passed me and cut so close in front I almost hit him. I was going very slow because I had just left my own driveway. He was going so fast! I saw him turn onto the street behind my home. Had I not been running late for an appt. I would have followed him and let him know how dangerous that was.
