Tipping at self serve places or pick up. I've noticed that more and more ...they have a tip jar out. Example. Menchies. You go in, select the size container that you want, fill it with yogurt and add your toppings. You go to pay for it and the cashier simply weigh's it and takes your payment yet they want a tip? Why? I did everything myself? IDK.

Some people enjoy tipping. I'm sure the employees don't expect one every time. You have not because you ask not.
I leave a couple dollars because someone had to package it up for takeout, but it's not the same as I would a server at a dine in place.
Eh, give them folks their flowers. Lol! Most people just throw in loose change anyway. I don't have an issue with it. It's hard out here in these streets and if I have a dollar or two to give or some spare change, I'll gladly give it.

cbear : Its worse when they ask for the tip at checkout, and you havent received your food. It is like if you dont tip, your food maybe altered or tainted or something. I dont like it. I wish tips would go away.
I usually tip at the locations that have tip jars, especially those that usually hire young staff. Usually it is just a $1 or something if it something simple. I feel things kids are working while in school to help out paying for their own stuff.
MeMyselfAndI : I'm sorry but, I don't tip at McDonalds. I feel like drive thru's, self serves and pick up's should not expect a tip. IMO.

The only place I've had an issue was Jason's deli unfortunately. I love their food, but was disappointed that they required a tip when paying with a credit card on the machine. I don't think it should be required.
