Things to do around here

What kind of things would you like to see here? The library has some events for kids.

When I was younger and lived in or around Kingwood, we had a Mountasia at the front of Kingwood. Put put golf, arcade alley, concession stand and fun atmosphere/light but fun music. I was so upset when they closed that down. It had decorated mountain climbing walls, etc. so fun.. We also had batting and golf event places and a huge Gattti Town pizza place that had bumper cars, arcades and great food. They played family animated movies. I don't know why they closed but it was so fun to take the kids there and always busy. Now there's a surgical center there?

@Kaa054 : Things for middle school and HS aged kids. How about mini golf to start?

Kemibe : Now there is a freeway interchange and businesses there. Mountisia's property was taken by eminent domain for the freeway interchange upgrade.

Cl1974 : Because you posted "WHY do investors/owners not see this as an opportunity? Is it rent prices? I get insurance cost - but it's benefiting elsewhere."This screams you are looking for a business to drop your child at and have that business entertain your child. Is there a reason he cannot do volunteer work. Get involved, meet new friends and give back to the community?Go to the library

Could you give an example of the types of things you have in mind? It might help with addressing your question if we had an idea of the direction you're thinking. [Edit: I just saw you suggested mini golf, so disregard this part unless you have other ideas you'd like to share!]In the interim, have you checked out the Kingwood Library offerings? They have all sorts of programming for different age groups (teen game room, maker space, art/crafts programming, etc.). They have a talk on snakes (kind of a show and tell with live animals) Thursday, I believe -- might interest the demographic you're talking about. There's also a roller skating rink in Humble -- might be entertaining for some old school fun. And I think someone mentioned that there's a new arcade of some sort at Deerbrook Mall -- could provide some air conditioned fun.

Well, you read into something that was not there. I want to have fun with them as well; I just can't participate in jump parks. My kids are also active athletes and their coaches don't want them at places like Urban Air bc there are so many leg injuries.

It may be winding down now, but Kingwood Library has an event every summer called the Summer Reading Program, where kids can participate and win prizes. They also have scheduled events for them to attend, and it's all free. I know it's not very exciting, but it is here in Kingwood. You might also sign up with Groupon that offers discounts to places like waterparks, and I think there is one in New Caney. I know there isn't a lot to choose from in KW itself, but we used the trails and swimming pool a lot to keep active, and it mostly was enough to keep mine happy.

Take them on day trips to inexpensive places. Pack a lunch, maybe hike. take pictures. Let them experience the country, I mean outside of the city. Go to Austin Barton Springs, the water is cold and wonderful and if they like to swim its great. Just one suggestion. I am sooooo glad to have been a kid in the country, and no video games, no Social Media. When my chores were done I put my ball glove on my handle bars and took off. Almost everyday there was a pickup game.

The library has programs for teens. There is a game room on 494. Mine always wanted to hang out with friends on the trails or pay music at each other's houses. It never seemed too hot for them.
