Furface11 : Thank you - they just all add up to over $100 with 2-3 kids. And, I know, nothing is free (but the park) 🤣 but it's just a lot for single moms.
I'm thankful my kid was into basketball at that age.

Cl1974 : Basketball is cool, because all you need is a neighborhood friend to play a pickup game. You really can't do that with other sports... well, maybe Tennis, but a certain level of skill is required.
My children now are 30 something. I was a single dad with 2 full-time jobs so they had lots to do as teens. Son did all yard maintenance, and everything outside and maintain his clothes and room. daughter did all housework from age 12 They stayed out of trouble, to help me out. My son would take Metro downtown. My daughter mostly just went to her friend's house. Neither really had anyone at our house to avoid issues at our house. They knew I was overloaded with work and paying all the bills. I think a job may be good for your son. Or give him responsibilities around the house. My son did everything trash, yard and landscape. Painting and most everything a man should do. It diffinetly help them succeed in life my son bought a house at 21 in Kingwood. . My daughter stayed till after she graduated from U of H. Then bought her own house in Colorado. I think their responsibilities as teens made them more responsible young adults. Just ideas.

eighteen : I have a hoop in my driveway. But they're so want play pickup with others. Unfortunately our neighborhood doesn't have a net/court yet (though there is space - it's the city holding up installation). Not enough go outside to play these days; granted, it is hot.

Cl1974 : I notice a lot of hoops got taken down and most of the elementary schools demolished their outdoor courts. You almost have to have a gym membership to play random pickup games.
eighteen : The problem is getting him to the gym. But it's not always just up the road and I don't trust m youngest or some of the drivers. 😢
