Cl1974 : Not evading the question; WHY there are not more fun things to do around KW? No one knows; what kind of events or activities is your child interested in? No matter where you live, there are only So many child/kid oriented businesses. KW is not really large enough , nor is Humble, to support More than we currently have, here. what other businesses do You think should come to that area; that would clarify a lot, for many of us. Mine spent a majority of their time trying to make money, from the time they were about 11 or 12. They were told that they if they were to have a car at 16; we would match whatever money they had, when the time came. So, they had flyers to do pet sitting, yard work, and just about anything else they could do in the neighborhood ( Mills Branch, KW). Older son is artistic, so he did custom painting on RC cars ,that his brother bought and repaired. Things to 'do' will be limited by age and finances, in most any area. Even in a larger city, like Houston.
LittleTexas : Kids 1 and 2 already have jobs. #3 is only 12. And you're evading the question. Why nothing more to do around here that I FUN when they're not working.
Cl1974 : I hear you. My two boys had same issues even with working part time job. But that's not what they want to really do in the summer. I have no good solution for you. Even the hot summers here make pool time with friends less enjoyable. Wife and I were just happy when school started again. Good luck.
Theoldman : He's 12. And yes, I do think it helps to work around the house. I'm just old school like that.
Cl1974: I thought your teen son. But even at 12 he's old enough to mow yards and/or do odd jobs around the house.
Txbutterfly : Thank you for answering my question. My kids do have chores. But that can't be their whole summer and they're burned out with the pools and their bikes. It's too dang hot. My one kid is outside shooting hoops right now. Hot hot hot. Main Event is so dang expensive. 😫 I'll look into B&N - thanks!parents need to work around their job schedules, though. Makes it tricky.

Cl1974 : I get it, and understand what you're saying. Yes, there are chores to keep them busy, but a kid needs some time to unwind and have some fun, too. It is too hot for most outdoor activities here, besides swimming. There are a few places in Humble you can go, like Main Event, Urban Air, etc depending on what he likes to do. I think they are building an entertainment complex in Valley Ranch, but I'm not sure when it will be completed. The struggle to keep them active, get together with friends, and keep them off the all the video games all the time is real. Hang in there, school starts back up quicker than you know it, and maybe he can join some sports or clubs that can carry him over for the yearly breaks and into next summer.
Cl1974 : Because the city is not going to pay to entertain your child. Kid's work part time or have hobbies during the summer.
luv2eatsushi : Wait what? I pay for my own children, thank you very much. I never mentioned "free". Just looking for something they can be involved in.
Theoldman : Thank you for the suggestions. This kid has his head up in the clouds so will lose toe if mowing. Weeding - yup. I make him do odd chores despite the verbal battle on his end. He. Is perfectly capable of folding laundry.
Cl1974: it has been this way for many years. Once upon a time, there were things for teenagers at the library, and at some churches. You may want to check those places. « Back to Chat
