Terry Black's BBQ

Oh wow, that food looks delicious! I will be excited to try them.

Black's and Terry Black's are different chains but started as Black's in Lockhart. Both family businesses, originally was Black's but Uncle Black ousted nephews in a not so nice way and Nephew started new restaurant using his name, Terry. Got pretty nasty, I believe they are still feuding.

I haven't been but heard they are the spot you go to when you want similar to the good spots but don't want to wait in those lines. They have much more of a commercial operation that still sticks to its roots but it allows them to keep cuts of meat still rolling out at all hours vs running out by a certain point so you don't have to wait in those lines.

It is very good; do not order your brisket "lean" or it will be dry. The potato salad is very good, as are the ribs. $12 plus tax for a sandwich. I like that they do not 'run out' of their most popular items, so no need to get there an hour before they open, and play the 'line up' game.

I've eaten at one in Dallas. I didn't think it was very good, but that's where my niece wanted to go.

There is Black's and family spin off of Terry Black's.I prefer TB of the two Blacks restaurant.

I find TB similar to Truth BBQ in Houston on Heights Blvd. They do 'run out' of a lot of food, but usually have chopped beef for a sandwich,which is what I want. I like it, but wait for the cooler months to go, since you have to stand outside for a time, most days.

LittleTexas : I had the choice of Truth or Blood Brothers recently. I opted for Blood Brothers and was wishing it were Truth. BB's flavoring was not high on my list.

Chow : I second this. Terry Black's was good but I've definitely had better. Salt Lick is on my better list.

JerryJustice : I've heard the same!

we felt the same about BB; barbecue is subjective, but they missed the mark for my tastes, too.
