Nuisance : Houses in cold climates are built for cold weather and have better insulation and don't have water heaters and water pipes in the attic.

I just leave mine open at night, and only ones below sink pipes. It will warm up each day, so no need to drip or leave the cabinets open, during those hours.

Nuisance : I lived in Nebraska. Those homes are built with way better windows and insulation bc of the climate there. Here, not so much so I'd opt for the safe way..
I do remember dripping faucets there for a few rare occasions. Like 18 below lol

sweetie : You know that when people do drip their sinks, the water flow for the Fire Dept decreases for water pressure because of everybody drips their faucets. Just open your cabinet doors on the cabinets facing outside walls. Turn up theheat a degree or 2.

sweetie :
Is there any way to tell what the R-value are on what the home constructed with? R-values measure how well a material resists heat transfer through conduction. Higher R-values indicate better insulation. Brick has one, vinyl siding another, hardy plank another. The type of insulation, as well has an R-value, and then the type of pipes. It's sort of like thinking about torque ratio on different types of wood.

Still best to turn the water to the unit OFF and evacutate the lines. No water to freeze and damage anything...

jwardl :

Absolutely. Turn water off and empty those pipes. Dripping water and you run a risk.
