Teen Curfew
A Teen curfew can't be the answer...for now. Been wondering why this hasn't been discussed as a possibility. Taking away opportunities seems like a good consequence for bad behavior and maybe a way to get parents more involved in a discussion with their kids about appropriate behavior. No doubt that Texas is all about personal freedoms but it seems safety and ensuring everyone's freedom to enjoy their night out is at issue. Maybe it is time to discuss this Texas law and bring back the curfew option? www.click2houston.co m/news/local/2026/06 /15/why-houston-cant -impose-a-teen-

Teens are practically shut-ins compared to previous generations. A curfew is a terrible idea.

When I was growing up, anyone under 18 had to be home by 10pm. My folks made sure that I abided by it. Parents should be held accountable for the actions of their kids, and made to make restitution for any damages caused by their kids.

I think we should start giving them all more participation awards. Building community out here. Im joking. But the takeover stuff does feel like maybe they are yearning for community and don't understand a healthy way to do that? Yes there needs to be consequences and there definitely needs to be accountability/action from parents but I dont think its a crazy idea to consider that these kids want to be a part of something and they just dont know of a better way.

After further research, it was the malls that required kids to be supervised by an adult or no entry.

A curfew Is a good idea. Arresting people, when there are 75-200 gathered for these insane 'take overs', is Another thing. There will have to be some consequence for the gathering. I'm all for fire departments 'cooling' their passion for these gatherings, with a water spray. It is a safe dispersal tool, when used properly. Parents involved is Job One, but that is easier said, than done.

The same things we did: swim with friends, ride bikes, run errands for your Mom, work a job; full time in the summer. My kids would go to friend's homes to play video games, and they also went to the movies with friends, played basketball on the driveway, went to camps, vacation Bible school ( in high school, I worked at those, and so did my kids). There's plenty to do, even without today's electronics.
