Tachus Internet Was Acquired by Private Equity Good afternoon, longtime lurker but today's outage in Kingwood sent me down a rabbit hole. When I first signed up for Tachus, I'd go years at a time without a single outage or hiccup. Customer service was fast, you'd get a real person on the line in less than a minute. For the past 3-4 months I've had nothing but trouble with the internet, and when I called the wait time had inflated, and I was told it was a router issue. I've replaced my Router twice until I realized they're just giving me the run-around. Today's outage I made the call and waited on hold for 36 minutes before hanging up. Asking myself "What the heck is going on? This company is beloved locally" I did some homework, and EzeeFiber acquired them in September.
When doing some homework on EzeeFiber, I saw that they're owned by the PE Firm that purchased and gutted the company I used to work for Called L Squared Capital. This private equity firm is famous for purchasing high regarded companies, absolutely gutting them and removing every single operational cost that makes them so highly rated, and then reselling the shell of the company for a profit before their reputational damage translates to revenue loss. Knowing what I know, I am running not walking away from this company today. I've had to be the guy giving customers the run-around when my last employer was gutted by them, I won't sit here and buy the nonsense as a consumer.

WhatsUp : This is very useful information...let's hope is not the case... myself I'm pleased with their service since we signed up,very professional,great service...I hope whoever purchased them will continue to honor Tachus s legacy....or many are going to walk ...these companies tend to forget ,you're never too big to fall.... competition it's plenty.

WhatsUp : I called Tachus and the price of my existing 1 gig of service went from $90 to $69 per month and guaranteed to not increase. Also, they upgraded my modem at no charge and now provide a free Eero Pro 6e router at no additional charge. I moved from Xfinity to Tachus due to poor service. Tachus has been great. However, if their service deteriorates, I still have 2 other fiber options available.
I don't think these people realize that they're losing their 'Locked in for life' price guarantee by switching to a plan that doesn't offer it.

Spork : That's marketing material, it isn't a contractual obligation. However, after the sale, that language was removed and now says the opposite.

WhatsUp : I am not a lawyer, but the lifetime guarantee language on the page where you sign up seems like an exception that they agreed to in writing.
truckerhat : I agree. But is that website language part of the offer people are accepting?
Or are they calling tachus and getting a "new cheaper offer?"

WhatsUp : As a practical matter, I don't think they're likely to distinguish between customers who sign up online "in writing" vs customers who request the same plan over the phone.
