Students in GLE Ambassadors program use basketball to forge connections

Not to be outdone by the Greenleaf Elementary girls, the 5th and 6th-grade boys involved in the GLE Ambassadors program collaborated with Assistant Principal Parker and Counselor Mona Getz to cultivate a sense of community among the students.
When brainstorming ways to make new students feel more welcome, Cam Vermillion and Caleb McMullen, two 6th-grade campus Ambassadors, proposed playing basketball.
In this unique game, missing a basket prompts the players to share something personal about themselves.
The boys intentionally select students who may not have established connections in class, those facing challenges, and newcomers to the Greenleaf family.
They are forging meaningful relationships.
