They probably heard something that they needed to go to a specific address (aka your home) then blah blah blah in a message. Then when they got there they realized someone gave them bad info. I don't think you are in danger, they were looking for someone or something.

Perhaps they were scoping your house asking a question they assumed would free them to drive awayv"innocently". It's too bizarre to be credible. The best deterrent is a well lighted exterior of your house.
