Cyclby : You are right - good communication and interaction is essential. A salesman may get turned down 10 times when offering a great product, but might get through on that 11th try. Never give up. Be positive. When they drive by, wave. If you get even a small opportunity to talk, reach out, even if for a moment. If there's trash in the street in front of their house, walk down and pick it up and maybe they will see, and talk to you. It's like eating an elephant. Can't get him all in one bite, so small nips.

Steps we can do to improve Kingwood Who doesn't want to see our Kingwood neighborhood grow healthier and strong? Let's make a list of things we can do to maintain it, improve it, grow it. Perhaps the Mayor will read this and help us in our journey. Here are a few to get started...please feel free to ADD your ideas! 1. Make your home's appearance clean, tidy, and well kept.
2. Keep vehicles clean (and garaged), where possible.
3. Pick up any trash or debris in the street and surrounding area.
4. Encourage neighbors to participate...assist them to get ball rolling.
5. Make your subdivision a "Crime Watch Area" - work with Police to get signs posted.
6. Volunteer at the local churches and schools as extra hands are always helpful.
7. Obey traffic laws...set the example.

Ruger5 : Your are suggesting a good question: How can we help build this KW forum membership? One way is to tell and encourage others to join. Years ago a big radio station (WBBQ) gave out (attractive and inexpensive) window decals to help get their message out. Same radio station gave out "Q" cards...a credit card with a unique number on it. Each day a number was called out on the air to win a prize. You had so many minutes to respond and claim. All winning entries went into a bigger drawing later for a grand prize. Promote promote promote. It works.
Sequence the traffic lights on Kingwood Drive and Northpark. It's insane that in this electronic day and age we can't seem to accomplish such a simple task. Why in the world do we have to stop at 8 lights to get from the back of Kingwood to the front? PS - The Mayor couldn't care less about us. We're the rich piggy bank for the City of Houston. Pay up and shut up.

Educating yourself is another one. The newly elected mayor for the City of Houston is John Whitmire. Kingwood is part of the City of Houston.
