SUMMATION SO FAR, great list we have started!!! Thanks to all! Joe : 1. Make your home's appearance clean, tidy, and well kept. 2. Keep vehicles clean (and garaged), where possible. 3. Pick up any trash or debris in the street and surrounding area. 4. Encourage neighbors to participate...assist them to get ball rolling. 5. Make your subdivision a "Crime Watch Area" - work with Police to get signs posted. 6. Volunteer at the local churches and schools as extra hands are always helpful. 7. Obey traffic laws...set the example. 8. Support Local Businesses. 9. Encourage charitable giving not from a car window, but to known and reputable organizations that can provide structured assistance to those in real need. 10. Know and talk to neighbors, as this can be the cheapest and most effective security system. 11. Get neighbors to join this forum - encourage them to join and be part of an excellent network and communication tool. 12. Monthly walk around and litter pick up. 13. Think big, set the example for other places and neighborhoods. 14. Encourage local leadership to get involved. 15. RE-VISIT and REPEAT: Know and talk to your neighbors. It's the cheapest and most effective security system. 16. Think of and suggest ways to help build the KW Forum's membership and readership. 17. For hurricane prep, maintain some key emergency supplies (like bottled water) and be ready to share with those less fortunate and needing assistance. 18. Sequence traffic lights on major streets so traffic flows smoothly and consistently.

Maver1ck : More schools, modern classrooms, far more restaurant choices, a defined "town center", much better internet options, plenty of rec spaces, lots of walkability, an amazing library, etc.

Socratease : All true but there's a down side too. More schools, modern classrooms. The over crowdedness of these classrooms is off the chart. And these extra schools reap havoc on traffic.

We do have plenty of rec spaces but very often now crime awaits under the cloak of greenbelt woods. I lived here 29 years before ever hearing of greenbelt crime. I've now lost count of the mayhem. Just this week a woman was held up at gun point for her cell phone. A few months back a teen was beaten up for his tennis shoes…..on & on it goes - and we all know why.

True there are plenty of restaurants but seriously, how many chicken joints does one community need? I want a steakhouse! 🤣🤣. I do love the added sidewalks and the library.

As a 32 year resident I know a thing or two about this community. It's nothing close to what it was before Urban sprawl came knocking. I stay for the lifetime of cultivated friendships, my dream house, my doctor of 20 years I adore. It's the community we raised our children in, the lifetime of wonderful memories. I would never choose to live here today, but I stay for the right reasons. ❤️

I would add- take care of your pets. Collars, microchips, secure fences, training. Y'all have one of the best professional dog trainers right there in Kingwood!!
Be a good neighbor and dog owner and don't let your dogs bark for hours outside!
Pick up your poop!!
I've been here almost 10 months and have only seen one loose dog in my neighborhood. I walk every day just like I did in KW. Now there are lost and loose dogs here according to that other site, but I have seen any in my ventures.

Steps we can do to improve Kingwood Who doesn't want to see our Kingwood neighborhood grow healthier and strong? Let's make a list of things we can do to maintain it, improve it, grow it. Perhaps the Mayor will read this and help us in our journey. Here are a few to get started...please feel free to ADD your ideas! 1. Make your home's appearance clean, tidy, and well kept. 2. Keep vehicles clean (and garaged), where possible. 3. Pick up any trash or debris in the street and surrounding area. 4. Encourage neighbors to participate...assist them to get ball rolling. 5. Maver1ck :
All good things but walk down any street around here. Only some people even actually keep their property clean. This is a high maintenance area when it comes to lawn and property and it is a PIA. And many rarely do regular cleaning. And putting cars in garages??? Lol!
