Snakes! We saw a beauty swimming down the lake at George Mitchel

petronoluem : Not real wide, but fairly long, not super long. It looked just like Mellen's pic. I just did not think about garter snakes swimming so well, and did not pull it up on a google search. If I had taken my phone cam I could have identified it. It was a very graceful swimmer and fun to watch.

Kaylagirl : That isn't a Gartner snake - I don't know what it is, but there isn't anything that looks like that in this area. I think it's a mangrove snake - which is asian.

If it were shiny/smooth (which is called keeling), it would almost have to be a coral snake - the aberrant ones look like these:
