Contact the local Kingwood HOA and city of Houston and see if they can address the dog park issue for Kingwood.

It's always been crazy to me how few public parks Kingwood has for its size and relative wealth. I was on the non-profit board for the old dog park when it first opened, many years ago, off Russell Palmer/Lakeville Dr.

Joe : Was that associated with AABY? Years ago energetic non-stop "Kay" at AABY was fundraising for a dog park. Then she got cancer and it seemed that her plans faded away. Does anyone know what happened to Kay?

14 dogs parks in Houston? But not one in the Kingwood area? Sad.

Then you have to deal with the unsocialized dogs and their entitled owners. I see people all the time at the little park behind Courts of Kingwood who don't pick up their dogs poop or who's dogs aren't socialized. I watched one woman yell at a guy whose dogs were perfectly well behaved while hers was completely out of control, like it was his fault her dog wasn't trained.

Yea not a fan of dog parks for all the reasons WWdiver listed.
We have lots of beautiful dog parks here. In the 2 years I've been here there have been 3 incidents of dogs attacks that have resulted in 3 dog deaths. There were 2 dog deaths as a result of a man shooting 2 dogs from the same owner because he felt " threatened " when they ran up to him- both golden retrievers, both died.
In the 50 years I've realized that many dogs don't want to socialize with other dogs. Right now I have 2- one is a border collie lab mix who is friendly but absolutely freaks out when he sees another dog- he wants to herd. My other Lab doesn't like dogs- taken away too young from his Mother and littermates. He doesn't want to play- small dogs are prey to be retrieved. It's taken me 2 years of training to get him to calmly walk by other dogs and to ignore. I've had other dogs that were totally fine around other dogs and I have carefully picked play mates for them.
But no I will never take my dogs to dog parks - too many unknowns-

It would be a disaster if the COH put one in. The grass would hardly ever be mowed.

Because dog walkers on trails refuse to pick up their dogs waste, most let it sit in middle of concreted area. Then you have owners who let their dogs run free, especially in east end.

Most dog parks also require that dogs brought in are completely vaccinated and that can lead to confrontations with some owners. Unfortunately we seem to live in a less than civil society these days and just how do you enforce rules if some members refuse to believe they apply to themselves. You know, those just special people...
