I send a thank you to all emergency medics/police/fire men/women
I send a thank you to all emergency medics/police/fire men/women...... Over a year ago, I was in an accident at that infamous intersection of Hamblen Rd and 494. My son was driving north on 494 and someone ran the stop sign and hit us. I was the front passenger and we had someone in the back seat behind my son. I remember the accident very clearly as I felt I (we) were at deaths door. Fortunately, my son handled the car in a way that he and our guest were not directly hit. My side, hit the back end of the other vehicle. Which took the harder hit. As a Mother, I would not have it any other way. My son wishes he had taken the hit, but we had a guest with us and he saved them both from injury or maybe death. I remember every detail and at the same time, it was foggy. All the emergency personnel arrived and immediately took action. One of the firemen, approached me and of course, through his experience identified that I was not well. He asked my history and calmly told me that he was going to stay by my side as an ambulance would be arriving soon. I told him I did not feel right but did not know how to explain it. He took my blood pressure and it was 220/140. I was in an emergency state!I could tell his voice was more calm, he made direct eye contact with me and just kept talking. I recognized the deescalation method as I use it on my students with certain issues. He informed me that I was at stroke level and urged me to accept an emergency ride to Kingwood hospital. Of course, as he is the professional and I trusted him, I said a definite yes. I remember he mentioned some people in my situation will go later, or refuse EMS. He was concerned that I might refuse. I did thank him and all the people who helped me in my state. But, I wish I could go back and tell him just one more time, that all his experience, and his mannerisms helped me. My blood pressure went down over the next few hours and I rested at home. I do remember his name was Jeff. So I send a thank you to fireman Jeff. I appreciate you, the other firemen, police, Kingwood hospital nurse and doctor. As a teacher.......everyone gets an A+!

Jnet : WOW, I hope Jeff and the other emergency personnel involved in this accident have the chance to read this. I'm so glad you were able to survive your injuries. I despise that intersection and I never use it. I have to wonder how many more accidents have to happen there before they put a light up. The cars on Loop 494 are going at least 45 and most are faster. The ones trying to cross onto Hamblin have no clue how fast the cars are traveling and they make poor judgment of it all. Prayers you continue to have no problems from this accident and I'm so glad your son and passenger had no injuries.
Jnet : I'm very sorry that you had that scary experience, but I'm glad that you, your son and guest turned out to be alright. Quite a few wrecks happen at that intersection, and I'm glad it wasn't worse for you. The men and women who work and volunteer for the fire department, ems, etc. are very deserving of praise for their professional and calm handling of these situations, and I have a tremendous amount of respect for all of them.

TEXASGIRLMAMMA : Thank you for your support! I had some issues for a bit. I am a teacher and I had to report to work. I should have taken time off but everything was hazy to me. I just kept going! I don't like medications but, my primary Doc helped me through it all with minimal meds. I do get flashbacks every so often. But, as my Daddy used to say--I am here to talk about it!
