I thought they built McDs for the munchkins?

mutton:

Yep! That's the only place my parents took us when we were little and sometimes Pizza Hut.

Our kids acted up exactly twice. Both times we removed them from the restaurants and went home. That hit home and they never acted up again. In fact, they are quite pleasant to be around. DVaz: no one wants to be around kids that act up, I don't care if it's McDonald's or Chez Nous. 4951

>> why is it some parents sit there and do nothing while their brats ruin everyone elses lunch?

and then they get mad at me when I ask them to shut their little hellion up

PedroDePacas:

Go cry me a river. They are paying customers just like you. Maybe eat at a fancy restaurant or shut your pie hole!

DVaz:

Really? You also realize that restaurants reserve the right to serve certain people? You and your kids maybe one of them.

You do know you pay to eat out? The other customers also have the right to shove your stuckup-snob attitude out the door?! Got that? 4951

We all know of and hear of the terrible twos.  What you do then tells volumes!  Small ones have very tiny timelines.  If you think they can be nice for a one or two hour ordeal ( yes, to them an ordeal) then you are oblivious... 4951

So you feel like your child has the RIGHT to disturb other people, who are also paying for their meal and they have to accept it? What a horrible attitude to have.

Sounds like my original post hit home. Do you have a problem controlling your little ones or do they control you? Maybe consider that it is rude to have your kids screaming and yelling while people are trying to have dinner.

And for the record, I eat at places both expensive and inexpensive. You cant put a price tag on manners and common courtesy. 4951

My issue is on airplanes. Why do they let those kids just scream? Especially on Long Long flights it would make me crazy and I would come home with a horrible headache.

Especially those crying newborns!  Why don't they muzzle them or teach them a lesson? EmoticonI was on a trans-atlantic flight once, and a 3-4 month old sitting a row ahead of me was crying with either ear pain or some other issue.  A man next to me was huffing and puffing, glaring at the child and mother, and later, after a couple drinks started to loudly mimic the baby crying, all the while cursing under his breath.  Real mature, that man. 4951

My issue is not with newborns, that is a situation fully beyond control; especially on airplanes. When my kids acted up at restaurants they were maybe three or four years of age. At that age, they were fully aware of what acceptable behavior is and what is not. We left the restaurant when their behavior was not acceptable. They knew better but no amount of reasoning on the part of myself or husband could convince them otherwise. I was contientious enough to realize it was not my "right" to eat at a particular restaurant regardless of how my children acted. I was raised better and have raised my kids accordinly. My huge peave is the parents that let their kids run around a restaurant fully out of control  and screaming. I would like to think that type of behavior is not allowed at home. Why is it acceptable at Skeeter's or 3B's? 4951

Basic consideration for others seems to be a thing of the past.

Fallon:  Very true, just like good manners and good customer service.  Too many people are self-centered and have little regard for others in public.

DVaz: just cause you paid to eat at the golden corral doesn't mean you have the right to **** in the punchbowl
