It is no secret that flight attendants have [or did have] a solution for cookie monstersGive them a banana milkshake!  Milk and ice-cream  [if you have it} laced with a little liquid Dramamine.It worked in extreme cases and of the little house apes suffered any no  ill effects......so we hoped.If my children and grandchildren were uncontrollable they were taken out of the restaurants and back home.  They were warned what would happen the next time."That look" from grandpa was all it took. 4951

 I hate when I see parents let their little toddlers and small children stand in the shopping cart and they're like falling all over the place. I'm all tense just waiting for them to fall out and land on their head.  4951

@2danes:

Whenever I hear one of those little critters at the grocery store screaming I just try and stay as far away as possible

Or play with the plastic bags!  I remember a cashier saying to the mother that is not a good idea. The child could suffocate! 4951

>> why is it some parents sit there and do nothing while their brats ruin everyone elses lunch?

and then they get mad at me when I ask them to shut their little hellion up

PedroDePacas: That’s one of my biggest pet peeves. Some people have learned to tune out their own kids, and some believe others find their kids as adorable and irresistible as they do, so they don’t think they are disruptions. It’s always a difficult conversation but sometimes it has to be done.

donnatella: THIS... I really hate to break it to most parents, but your "precocious" little brat isn't that cute. I love seeing kids play and run around at home. Or somewhere that it's the norm, like the park..but it annoys me when they even interrupt conversations, etc..

I love @cgm10nsne1 calls them..**** trophies..

Ugh I hate these loud little nuggets too! My parents took me outside and home when I acted up in public. Pretty early on I learned how to behave. 4951

calliecat:

Get a plastic bag of your own and put it over your own head. Tell the kid this is how to play astronaut.

Odds are, the mother will either take the bag away from the kid, ooooorrrrr ... the problem will take care of itself.

I brought this up years ago and all it did was bring in a bad mouthing from the parents on here. My issue is on airplanes. Why do they let those kids just scream? Especially on Long Long flights it would make me crazy and I would come home with a horrible headache.

luv2eatsushi:   When my kids were little, and we had long overseas flights, I would give them Benadryl starting the day before, then another dose 1 hour before the flight.  My pediatrician told me to do this cause it helps dry the fluid in their ears, and keeps them from popping. (very painful for a baby)  A small baby or small child does not know how to yawn and clear their ears.  It also helps them sleep thru the flight!!  I always had so many passengers say "WOW, I didn't even know there was a child there!!"   Mine were also NOT allowed to play with tray or KICK a seatback!!  EmoticonBenadryl is MAGIC for kids on a flight!! (and the parents!)
