Rosemont Assisted Living in Kingwood is wanting to do a car show

I appreciate both perspectives, but I feel that she was not over exaggerating her family's experience, and the serious nature of it should definitely be taken into account. This is a deeply important process as well as personal and emotional one. We are weighing our options right now and really looking into the level of care that the home can provide with what their needs are. It goes without saying that we all want what is best for our family, and doing our research on all of it is a huge part of it. I can see it from the perspective of someone who has worked in such a place, and provided care for people, and that's personal for you. But, I also need to see it from someone who has had actual experience with a place we were considering. None of this is easy, and we're not looking forward to it, but it has come to the point where it has become absolutely necessary. I also understand that this is the last place they are going to live and at some point we are going to lose both of them. I would like to be assured that the place we choose has compassion about that, and will notify our family when it happens. Otherwise, it would be traumatizing, and we would like to avoid the situation her family experienced.

@CatalinaKitKat : I truly feel for you at this phase in life. The decision is gut-wrenching when you realize a loved one is beyond the care you can provide. The care for them is very much needed, but the costs are staggering. Trying to find a happy medium is an extremely difficult task. The best you can do IS your best, but there are a slew of emotions that come along with it. It can make you crazy if you let it. Feel free to PM me if you need to chat.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience with Rosemont Assisted Living but i can tell you that that very situation happens at most assisted living facilities from time to time due to several factors like understaffing, complacency and good old human error.

workman100 : Thank you and good points. I totally get that it's not a rejuvenation facility, that this is their last residence, and at some point, their time will come. However when the factors you mentioned contribute to additional and unnecessary pain for family, especially being already understaffed, a facility should focus their efforts on their work and improvements vs. promoting extras like a car shows.
