1.They will eventually send you an overdue notice and charge an extra late fee.I tend to forget to renew, but usually do it before they add the late fee.
2. If you are elderly, the fee drops.
3. Some of the chip places charge a yearly fee also. I don't think I ever had one for the chips the vet placed. But do for those from BARC.

Babieborris: If you take your dog to a vet for a yearly checkup and vaccines in Harris County, the information will be sent to BARC, and you will receive a bill for a dog license.

City of Houston is not the only city that has animal ordinances. In Phoenix Arizona if you do not get your rabies vaccination you receive a fine.

CaffeineFree : I have never received a bill from BARC. I suspect my previous vets gave out the envelopes in lieu of reporting. Last October was my most recent visit. That vet retired. We shall see what happens this year with the new vet.
