No, I was never ready to go back. Until we moved here, we didn't go back until after Labor Day. I should be used to it by now, but it seems like they make the kids go back earlier in August every year.

they do, there is a very different school schedule now, with lots more days off/breaks/etc, so they begin early. Back in the day, we began after Labor Day in Hopes that it would be a bit cooler, because we did not have air conditioning in schools, until I was in 5th grade.

The kids have to go back way too soon these days; dang! If they had a real summer break, they'd probably be more apt to look forward to going back. The rule used to be that they required 180 school days, and we still managed nice long breaks for holidays.
