Of course. If you think I support everything Trump does you are mistaken. It's like identifying the best restaurant in Houston, but not liking every item on the menu. I can still view that restaurant as one I prefer over other alternatives available.

A very honest & sincere question: What did today's protests actually accomplish?It's great and feels good to be able to express our views, but does anyone really think today's activities will result in any changes ?The majority of Americans who voted during November 2024 wanted significant changes from the prior administration and are seeing that. There will be another opportunity in 2028.

Texvette : Trump won with 49.8 of the actual votes so yes there are millions that don't agree with his policy. They exercised there right. What is your true issue?

I wasn't there but from the video and the number they are estimating - it was less than 1% of Kingwood's population! Not too surprising IMO!

Texvette : The point of a protest isn't to change minds, it's to force the conversation onto a bigger stage. It was wildly successful. It hit 'peak interest' on Google trends. And it dominated the conversation, just go look at the post/comment count by topic here.But none of that actually matters - and this forum today has been exceedingly awful in some of the commentary. There are protests I simply don't agree with, but I still celebrate the protest. The president, who they are protesting, literally said: For those people who want to protest, they're going to be met with very big force,This forum would lose their damn mind if Biden stood up and said 'I'm going to take every gun you own'. Trump is bypassing due process, declaring a national emergency so he can impose tariffs without congressional consent, banning the AP etc. The irony here is that given what the GOP has historically stood for, they should be the one protesting.

petronoluem : The "conversation on a bigger stage" is meaningless in the whole scheme of things. I don't have the data from the "interest chart" but do agree yesterday did bring about a lot of conversation. A lot of that conversation was among the folks who resent Trump - who were in the minority of voters in November 2024. Yesterday was more a show put on by the minority as they exercised their right to peacefully protest. If you add all who protested nationwide yesterday, it was probably just a fraction of those who voted for the changes we are seeing - which are consistent with what many (the majority) voted for.I don't expect to see any changes as a result of the protests. Other than giving the minority an opportunity to demonstrate their disagreement, the next 3 1/2 years will proceed as generally planned.
