Power out…again. My husband and I work from home and require stable internet/power. Do you think there is any chance the electric company can compensate us for loss of business?

I think they could, but 100% chance they won't. That would open a huge can of worms for them.

buckeyetotexan : Which village? An automatic backup generator is a good idea. If you don't want to fork over that amount, you could get a large UPS to backup your computers and router. I have a small one that gives my Tachus modem and my wireless router a couple hours of usage on battery.

buckeyetotexan : It might be a good idea for you to get a whole house generator. I think it would help. The electric company is not responsible to compensate you for anything. In fact, They are not really responsible for anything! It's awful!

buckeyetotexan : You're kidding with that question, correct?
Get a whole home generator like we did, problem solved.

ExCTGuyInTX :
Question for you - when the power goes out, and your generator kicks on, I'm assuming there is enough time that your modem and router go down and have to reboot once the generator has taken over? Or do you have the modem and router on a battery? Just curious.

Mine has to reboot. But we are not trying to work from home. Takes about 60 seconds.
