Pouring concrete 494 & Kingwood Dr. this morning. I just saw a p

BuckleUp : It's inexplicably labeled as "Loop" 494, but it is in fact a straight stretch of road that closely parallels 59 directly east of 59 between roughly Hamblen Rd and Rte 1485. As long as we're on this, does anyone know why they call this very straight road a "Loop"?

BuckleUp : 494 is actually the Old US 59, it runs roughly parallel to the new Highway 59/I-69, commonly called the East Tex Freeway North of downtown Houston.

CaffeineFree : Every time I drive on it, it looks like it is complete and just needs striping. I don't get what the hold up is.

jwardl : I agree but that was on the post that I read. I suppose they had contractors working early this morning, cones up blocking part of the road, etc. I'm fortunate that I didn't have to drive that route today.

Ticagro : It has definitely taking too long.

Ticagro : I think it's because we can loop around different paths to get on the other side of 59 but I really never thought that much about it. I take different routes using 494 often but they need to wrap it up regardless

Kemibe : Unfortunately some of the alternate routes are now undergoing construction too.

Kittle : I know. All major road ways are under construction @ the same time. 🤷🏻‍♀️
