@Puss In Boots: I agree that it is her business. I agree that cars and bikes need to share share the road.... what she is not comprehending is that she darts out in front of cars on the road and doesn't give two hoots about it. It's dangerous to her and her child and it's dangerous to us drivers who are trying to navigate through that hellish time. She does NOT wait in the car line - she darts in alongside the cars already in line and basically "cuts" in front of everyone.What she fails to understand is that there is a bike trail that leads to the school parking lot and that kids on their bikes need to use that route to approach the school safely - and, as a cyclist, she should be following that rule as well.

The article doesn't put Kingwood in the best light. Chronic complainers with too much time on their hands and a side of entitlement.

EleanorRigby: The news article was not why people were complaining.  She took the opportunity to spin it so it sounded like a bunch of people complaining because of someone getting ahead of others, when the complaints were for not being a safe bicyclist with kids in tow.  Completely different, but spun well!  She must have a marketing or communications background.

This just made the news and I hope all of the chronic complainers should read the comments on how outside people see how petty you all are! Kinda embarrassed to say I live in Kingwood. Hurricane Harvey niceness already faded and people just bash instead of becoming a great example. Grow up people! If you snapped a photo while driving, then shame on you for being on your phone while you’re driving. It is illegal to be on your phone while you’re driving! 4951

EleanorRigby: I never said, or even insinuated, that she should sit in the car line. I said she should take the GB trails into the back of the lot like the kids who ride bikes do.Nice try, though.

Great job Bike mom!! all everyone does is point fingers and judge people. Well before you start doing that you should take a look at yourself and your own lives. shame on you. You are just jealous that she thought of it first and now you are hating on her. She is taking care of her family the best way she can. She is simply trying to get her boys to school on time and I commend her for that. And one son is Autistic. I can relate because I have a son who is Autistic and has always had to go to different schools with the best programs to help him. if taking them on bike to get them there on time on what she needs to do then leave her alone!!! What she does is none of your business and SHAME ON YOU if you are taking a picture while driving and or are in the school zone. you should get a ticket for that.  Stay out of this woman's business and everyone else's business and take care of yourself and your family.  4951

No one cares that she is biking her kids to school. It's the way that she's doing it that has people angry. How hard is it to comprehend?

Like most issues, it's only hard to grasp when you don't want to, and when you just want to emotionally rant about the haters and complainers.  We (U.S. Americans) are the best in the world at emotionally reacting to something, dodging the issue, and not resolving anything.  That's what our freedoms allow!  4951

This may seem nasty to some but my feelings are that anyone wanting to be on public roads needs to be registered and pay for a license plate, bikes included. Bicyclists feel that they have a God given right to use the motorways even though they do not share in the burden of building and maintaining them.
 
It still would be an inconvenience to others but you could stomach it a lot better. Not only that, it would help eliminate stolen bikes.

jschiner: Sure thing, and take it one step further and make sure it is a vehicle weight based fee.  The heavier the vehicle, the more destructive it is to the roads.  So you want to go that route, apply it more heavily to those that use and damage the roads more.
