59 was only 2 lanes each way and had elevated bridges over it.

Those of us who had to use this method were referred to as the Kingwood kamikaze's as we would run along the shoulder of 59 until you were at speed to merge with the highway traffic.
I've been here so long I remember when 59 and Kingwood Dr were in the same plane. It was like a game of Frogger every morning, scooting across to the southbound lanes to get to work. Good times.
Yes ma'am, you too were one of the Kingwood kamikazes!!

Yes, there was a bridge where Northpark went over 59 in the early to mid 2000s. 59 was not elevated and was only two lanes each way then. I don't remember about Kingwood Drive, I took Northpark every morning.
Edit: Found a story in the Chronicle. The reconstruction was finished and Northpark went under 59 in September 2006.

I heard KW back then was high dollar Airport and G & O Energy folks ? We transferred here from St Louis in 2008 and everybody said move to KW.
I only remember the bridges because my mother called me an SoB and kicked me out of the car at the top of one when I asked what that made her. Good times......

many of the pilots, etc from IAH built nice homes, with huge front yards, and lived in Lee Acres, on the other side of the Beltway now, from Fall Creek, and that area. When KW opened, they moved North. Lee Acres is now somewhere you wouldn't want to go, unless your best friends, Smith and Wesson, went along with you. When KW opened, my Dad, Grandad and I drove over from our small town 30 minutes way, to see "what the hub bub is", as my Grandad said.
Yes! I moved to Kingwood in 1997 and there was a flyover type bridge on Kingwood Dr. at 59. I hated when they changed to the current intersection however the flyover couldn't accommodate the increased traffic.
