Prayers to all who have experienced an emotional event today. When your kids are involved it is very scary for sure. There is nothing wrong with sharing information about this situation.
I don't know I graduated in 1976 and we had a couple of bomb threats and they cleared out the school and brought the bomb dogs in.
Ruger5 : Daughter has been trying to text me saying get on the forum and figure out what is going on. Wow with cell phones there is instant communication which I think is a good thing.
My kid was barricaded in a room with a piano in front of the door and belts tied tight to keep them from opening. They are getting info from friends and any noise they hear (probably the hitting of the metal as you open each door in the school) sounds like a potential gunshot. I don't think people are just "spreading rumors". I picked her up and let her decompress at 12 noon. It was an extremely traumatic event and unless you had kids there, you have no freaking clue. To her, all noises were real. They are in a dark room scared shitless, waiting....
I feel sorry for the attendance office staff in the aftermath…this has got to be worse than the hours leading up to a holiday break 🫣
I have not been on KDC nor had any news source available since much earlier this morning thus I am just learning of this event. I understand comments about spreading unconfirmed rumors. Nonetheless if my granddaughter texted that threats were made, I would take action immediately and ask for confirmation later; life is too precious to waste time. No one should have to live in fear. Prayers for all students, faculty, and families.
So true!! I was in a long line but lunch bell was about to ring. They'd been in 5th period (some, some just left) for about 20 min. There were rumors that it wasn't over and there would be something else happening at lunch and my daughter was pretty nervous.
Anyway, a lady with a walkie talkie just opened the door and said if you can text your kid, do it and fill the form out. We can't call them out of class because once the bell rings for mustang hour, we don't know where they are.
I am being told that there was a shotgun and AR15 type gun. I also hear a coach was being held at gunpoint... supposedly there is a snapchat video.... Just passing what I heard... I guess it will be awhile before we get to the entire truth...
yes, that was also what we heard. She was really scared to stay there but after some time to talk, and breathe....she decided to go to AP World and AP Chemistry so I signed her back in and told her to call me if something felt off. She just didn't want to be there during lunch, she was a bit shaken and heard something else was going to happen.
When I signed her back in, the attendance ladies were not happy with the dismissal process LOL. But Dr. Nassara was right there in the lobby when I got my daughter so I had no reason to believe I needed to sign her out the correct way. It was minimal chaos, but a bit of chaos none the less.
No gun or weapon was found. One student threatened another verbally after an argument. It was good for them to take the threat seriously.
