I saw a bunch of kids in the HEB shopping center around noon today. They had their backpacks, so I figured they were let out early.

Yup I got similar text as well. My daughter thought they heard a shot too. She said several students thought they heard a shot as well. 🤷‍♀️ They were scared. My heart dropped when I received that text.

She said her teacher initially told them it was a drill 🤦‍♀️

MomofOne : Literally sitting here with tears rolling down my face. Good job mom at staying calm. My daughter was barricaded in a room as well but she only heard the police out in the halls. Her boyfriend was on the 4th floor and someone was banging on his door and the girls all started crying and he was telling them to be quiet because he didn't know if the "shooter" (what they ALL thought at the time) was in the hallway. Very scary for these kids. I remained calm until the all the clear and then I broke down crying. Very emotionally drained today.

I think most of us, including teachers, think this would never happen and it HAS to be a drill. I'm glad it was minimal, I'm glad they took it serious and I'm glad my kid is ok. I'm glad she now knows what to do in a situation like that or now feels better prepared. I'm glad all the kids are ok.

Decorate365 : I did the same with my daughter ... I could not hold back tears as I just held on to her. I'm sure she was rolling her eyes haha but there is NO worse feeling than believing your child is in danger and there is literally nothing you can do to help them.
