I too am trending towards Amazon and Walmart and having it shipped straight to my door. Hassle free. In store is reserved for "need to look around, touch it or try it on" shopping.

Orangeapple : Of the one across from the mall is worse, then I'm not going to bother with that one, ever.It was the one @ WLHP/1960. I don't want a cashier to stand there and watch me do their job. That was the first issue. The second was the attitude.

Getting my union retirement check. Do not work as a scab in union stores. Do not work for non-union shops. (At least that is what I tell them when they want me to do that work at the register.) Went to an out-of-town walmart a couple years ago. All they had was self-check registers. Told a lady in a supervisor vest that I never learned how to do all that fancy computer stuff, and she checked me out with a smile on her face.
On the other hand, I can park in the pick-up lane at Sam's, run in to get my dog's favorite food, pay and be back in my truck before anybody notices I am blocking traffic.
And the kiosk to order my hot dog or pizza slice at Costco NEVER has an "out-of-order" sign on it.

I check myself out daily.....In the mirror while brushing my teeth....Still lookin' good!!....

Generally the stores that charge extra for credit card transactions aren't making more money. They are trying to offset the fees the credit cards are charging the business. I still believe in cash (and checks) and get frustrated when an establishment will ONLY take cards.
